For years I thought I was researching my family's past.
Gradually I realised I was also researching my own.
Every family inherits stories.
Some survive in photographs.
Others remain hidden in fading ledgers, forgotten place names and memories carried across generations.
What began as a search for my own family gradually became something larger.
It became a way of asking how memory survives.
